Edinson Cavani has left Boca Juniors after agreeing to terminate his contract, and the 39-year-old is now seeking a new club.
According to Superdeporte, he had been tied to Boca until the end of the year, but by rescinding he is said to have given up the final six months of pay. He is working back from a disc problem before attempting to sign for his next team.
One of Uruguay's standout forwards in recent decades, Cavani shone at Palermo, Napoli and PSG, who once paid 65 million to make him their spearhead. His Paris chapter ended with a move to Manchester, then to Valencia for 2022/23, where his impact waned after the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Under Gennaro Gattuso he scored four in his first six LaLiga matches, lifting Valencia hopes. His last league goal came on 31 December, with two more in the Copa in January, then the goals dried up. He left Mestalla at season's end and joined Boca on a free, welcomed as a star.
Form again faded and his final goal for Boca was on 17 November 2025 against Tigre. He has not scored since 2025. He wants a new adventure before turning 40 in February.
