Edinson Cavani left out of Boca trip to Salta for Copa Argentina opener

Edinson Cavani will not travel to Salta with Boca for their Copa Argentina opener against Gimnasia de Chivilcoy on Tuesday, kick-off 21:15 at the Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Claudio Úbeda has named a 25-man squad for the round of 32 tie in Salta, with Cavani omitted to rest the 39-year-old forward.

The Uruguayan played 80 minutes against Racing last Friday. He had previously logged 25 minutes on his return after almost three months out.

Juan Barinaga has a muscle injury and will not travel. Lucas Blondel is not currently under consideration by the coach and could leave. Agustín Martegani is also out of the fixture.

The travelling party includes goalkeepers Agustín Marchesín, Leandro Brey and Javier García, along with defenders Marcelo Weigandt and Nicolás Figal, and forwards Lucas Janson, Ángel Romero, Miguel Merentiel and Adam Bareiro.
