The former right winger first made his name at the Antas after joining from Salgueiros. His peak came with Porto, scoring 30 goals in 85 matches between 1995 and 1997.

After a quiet spell at PSG, he returned to Portugal to play for Sporting from 1998 to 2001, adding 77 appearances and 19 goals.

He remains a regular visitor to Portugal and keeps close ties with the clubs he served. His honours reflect both sides of the rivalry, with two league titles at Porto and one at Sporting.
