A new Bayer 04 Media House documentary charts Edmond Tapsoba’s path from Ouagadougou to Leverkusen, marking his new long-term Bayer Leverkusen deal. According to BuLi News, Fierté Burkinabè, Pride of Burkina Faso, gathers voices who witnessed the 27-year-old defender’s rise.
It follows his return to the capital, pride in his roots, and his parents’ influence. It also spotlights the Foundation Edmond Tapsoba, launched two years ago to aid vulnerable people.
As a teenager he joined Salitas at 15, with his mother encouraging him while his father prioritised school. Coach Drissa moved him from hopeful forward to centre back and pushed extra work.
Mentor Boureima Maïga and agent Filipe Macedo Alves helped steer his early steps. Alves linked him with Deco in Portugal, leading to Vitória Guimarães and rapid first-team progress. Leverkusen then moved in January for a reported €20 million.
He debuted a week later in a Bundesliga classic, a 4-3 home win over Borussia Dortmund, and won over the dressing room. Soon after, his parents saw him score against Ferencváros in Europe.
Now more than six years in, 2023/24 delivered an unbeaten Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal, with only the Europa League final lost to Atalanta. Scenes from Ouagadougou underline how little success has changed him and how much it means at home.
His community work began with pandemic donations and continues through his foundation with support from Bayer Leverkusen.
