Edu leaves Nottingham Forest after contract termination | OneFootball

Edu’s spell at Nottingham Forest is understood to have ended after his contract was terminated last week. There has been no official announcement, and he is no longer listed on the Who’s Who section of the club’s website.

According to the Telegraph, he felt the job was not what he envisaged and accepts he struggled to build relationships with key staff, including owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The Brazilian was appointed global head of football in July 2025, working across Marinakis’ group that includes Olympiacos and Rio Ave as well as Forest. His arrival was viewed as a coup after serving as Arsenal’s sporting director.

His tenure came under scrutiny during a turbulent 2025/26 season. Talk of a possible exit first surfaced in January when Forest were fighting relegation, and subsequent reports said he was instructed to stay away from the stadium and training ground.

Soon after his arrival, a clash with Nuno Espirito Santo culminated in the Portuguese’s dismissal as head coach last September. Forest then had three further managers across last term, with Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and Vitor Pereira each taking charge.

Pereira was replaced by Oliver Glasner in July, the Austrian now charged with bringing stability as Forest look to climb the Premier League table.
