Eduardo Ferreira will begin pre-season with FC Porto on Wednesday, partnering André Silva as the club reshapes its attack. According to O Jogo, Samu’s serious injury and Deniz Gul’s post-World Cup rest leave them as the available centre-forwards.

Silva is one of three confirmed signings. Ferreira is among nine academy players called up by Francesco Farioli.

The 18-year-old struck 26 goals in 35 under-19 matches as Porto won the national title.

He made five II Liga outings for the B team, debuting in a 3-0 win on 28 February and netting on 13 April to clinch a 1-1 draw. His professional deal was confirmed the next day. He arrived from Belenenses in 2023/24.

Coaches view him as a complete forward with improved heading, he is 1.80 metres, sharp box reading and finishing from crosses or central shots. His intensity and defensive commitment suit Farioli, though link-up play still needs polish.

Farioli will decide who travels to the England camp from 13 to 18 July. With the club seeking another centre-forward, Samu not fully back until November and Gul reporting later, the number 19 starts ahead. Last season Silva, 30, scored 10 in La Liga for Elche.

Gul was one of three Porto players at the World Cup and exited as Türkiye disappointed. The only natural centre-forward in Vincenzo Montella’s squad, he played five minutes then 30 in the next match. He is resting and should report for the camp, looking to reset amid rising competition.
