Edu’s position as Nottingham Forest’s global head of football is under scrutiny amid a chaotic season for the club.

According to Nottingham Post, Flamengo are considering him for their football director role in a planned reshuffle, and would explore appointing him at once if he shows interest.

He has been told to stay away from the City Ground and the training base, missing the last three matches. Forest insist he continues to operate in his role despite not attending games.

Edu joined in July 2025 to oversee Evangelos Marinakis’ multi-club network, including Olympiacos and Rio Ave.

Since his arrival, the club have cycled through head coaches Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche, with a reported fallout with Nuno seen as a defining moment.

Vitor Pereira is now the fourth head coach this season tasked with securing survival. Forest sit outside the Premier League relegation zone only on goal difference, level on points with 18th-placed West Ham.
