Ronnie Edwards has wished Southampton well after sealing a permanent switch to QPR.

The 22-year-old joins the Championship side in a deal worth around five million pounds after 18 months at Saints. The player said in a post that he thanked former team-mates and supporters for their backing during his short stay.

He also sent best wishes for the rest of the season and suggested their paths would cross again.

Edwards returns to QPR, where he impressed in the second half of last season, and is certain to get the minutes he wants.

The former Peterborough defender made only two substitute appearances under head coach Tonda Eckert and has not been in a matchday squad since the defeat at Norwich on 13 December.

Southampton host QPR at St Mary’s on Tuesday, 24 February, having won 2-1 at Loftus Road earlier this season in Eckert’s first match in charge.
