David Prutton has outlined who he feels will come out on top in Monday night's clash
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes that Millwall will come out on top for the first time in front of their home fans this season when they take on Watford at the Den on Monday night.
All seven of Millwall's points through the opening five games of the season have come away from home, with their two home league outings finishing 0-2 and 0-3 against Wrexham and Middlesbrough, respectively.
An erratic Watford side are the visitors this time round, who are still finding their feet under Paulo Pezzolano. Last time out, they put in a poor performance at home against Blackburn Rovers, losing 1-0. Inconsistency has been a recurring theme for both sides so far this term, though Watford have taken impressive points from the likes of QPR, Swansea City and Southampton in recent weeks.
It should only be a matter of time before The Den is regarded as a tough place to go once more, however, and former Nottingham Forest and Leeds United midfielder, David Prutton, gave a 2-1 score prediction by way of the hosts in the latest Essential EFL Podcast.
Speaking on the Essential EFL Podcast, EFL pundit David Prutton ran through his score predictions for each game of round six of the Championship campaign, which ends on Monday night with the visit of Watford to Millwall.
Prutton believed that "there was a reaction" in the second half of the Lions' last league game, a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic, and that the Hornets provide the "perfect opposition" to continue that reaction and pick up not only their first home points, nor their first home goals, but also their first home win of the season.
"I just think, given what I've seen of Millwall, given that Alex [Neil] will want those points accrued at home, it seems to me that Watford, the visitors on Monday night, are the perfect opponents," Prutton said.
When asked what he feels the score will be, the pundit answered: "2-1 to Millwall."
Whilst there's little concern about the start Millwall have made to the season, there's understandably some frustration that the Lions have yet to pick up any points at the Den so far, a place that is notorious for being tough to go to.
Under the lights on a Monday night, buoyed by a strong performance against an in-form Crystal Palace side in the EFL Cup in midweek, albeit bowing out on penalties, Millwall will have some solid momentum to take into this bout against a Watford side perhaps still reeling from a disappointing home defeat to Blackburn last time out.
The Hornets have beaten Millwall just twice in their last nine meetings, too, although one of those did come the last time the two met in South London, with Watford running out 3-2 winners last August.
Nevertheless, with the desperation to pick up points at home, Millwall will be coming out strong, and depending on which Watford side turns up at the Den, Alex Neil's side may be too much for the Hornets on Monday night.
