Egiluz has successful right-knee operation and starts ACL recovery | OneFootball

According to El Correo, Athletic defender Unai Egiluz underwent successful surgery on Wednesday on his right knee to replace the anterior cruciate ligament graft. He is due to be discharged tomorrow to start rehabilitation that is expected to take several months.

He sustained the serious setback in mid May during training, re-tearing the graft in the same right knee shortly after returning from that injury.

The defender suffered the same injury last summer and had surgery on 6 August. After months out, he returned to the Lezama pitches in February to work under Valverde.

He was named in the squad on 5 April against Getafe, then again away to Espanyol, although he did not feature.

Team-mates showed their support before the Celta match, with the starters posing for photographers in 11 shirts bearing his name and the number 13.
