Egyptian head coach Hossam Hassan is keeping a close eye on several young talents as he gears up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Among them, Tebo Gabriel—currently playing with the youth squads at Mainz in Germany—stands out as a particular focus of attention. Born in 2006, Gabriel was named Egypt's U17 Player of the Year in 2022, but since claiming that title, he hasn't received further call-ups to the youth national teams. Having developed at FSV Frankfurt and then TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, he now plies his trade with 1. FSV Mainz 05 II, where his development continues. With his imposing physical presence and versatility in midfield, Gabriel offers an intriguing option for Hossam Hassan, who is eager to inject promising young talent into the Pharaohs' squad.

Alongside Tebo Gabriel, other young prospects are also under close scrutiny for a potential national team call-up. These include Omar Khedr, a winger playing in England for Aston Villa and already capped for Egypt's U20 and U23 teams; Mohamed Abdallah, who features for Al Ahly's U20 side; as well as Mohamed Albay and Younes Abdallah. The Egyptian coaching staff is carefully monitoring their performances and progress to determine who might make the expanded squad list for upcoming friendlies and the crucial March training camp—a decisive stage in the road to the 2026 World Cup.

This focus on youth is part of a broader strategy to gradually rejuvenate the national team while retaining experienced leaders like Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush. The March camp will serve as a major test for these emerging players.
