According to Sunderland Echo, eight Sunderland players reach the end of their deals this summer, with another seven entering their final year. Major contract calls await as the season nears its close.
A largely rebuilt squad assembled last summer has excelled on their Premier League return, with Robin Roefs, Granit Xhaka and Brian Brobbey prominent. With four games left, the Black Cats remain in the hunt for European places.
There will be new arrivals as recruitment continues, but decisions over several long-serving players loom at the Stadium of Light.
Head coach Regis Le Bris discussed Dennis Cirkin, who is into the final months of his deal. He said last week it is too early to be specific and that competition at full-back is high, with three strong options. He added it might be the end of the story unless both sides are aligned, stressing the focus must stay on the league.
Beyond this summer, contracts run in stages through 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030, giving Sunderland a broader framework for planning. The decisions taken now will shape another busy close season at the Stadium of Light.
