Eintracht Frankfurt are exploring a move for SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu and could land him for less than the initial valuation, with the player keen to leave this summer.
Freiburg’s price has been around €25 million, but Bild claims Frankfurt can expect a much lower base fee, with roughly €15 million viewed as realistic plus significant bonuses, due to limited concrete interest and a contract that runs out at the end of the season.
Under new coach Adi Hütter, Frankfurt have opted for Kauã Santos as first-choice ahead of Michael Zetterer. With the 31-year-old set to act as back-up, he is considering a move for regular football.
Atubolu has been linked with clubs in the Premier League and Serie A. Frankfurt have identified him as a replacement option as they reshape their goalkeeping group.
Early discussions have taken place between Frankfurt and Atubolu only, with no contact yet between the clubs. The Freiburg native is open to joining the Hessen side, although his wage demands would place him among their highest earners.
