Sky Germany reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to boost their midfield and defensive numbers in the winter window.

Despite their strong start to the season, die Adler have leaked goals at the back. Before the international break, they had conceded 16 goals in four games in all competitions.

Now they are looking to improve their back line, with another defensive midfielder as well as a centre-back.

Frankfurt’s only true defensive midfielder is Ellyes Skhiri, but at times, Dino Toppmöller has favoured a duo of Hugo Larsson and Fares Chaibi, neither of them truly defensive-minded. So on the list at Deutsche Bank park for possible arrivals are: Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge), Ismael Doukoure (Strasbourg) and Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt.

Both Onyedika and Doukoure can play as a midfielder and a centre-back, meaning either could plug both gaps. While Frankfurt have also shown an interest in Inter Milan defender Yan-Aurel Bisseck.

Frankfurt is also expected to improve their attack:

It was previously reported that attack is also an area for improvement. Newcastle striker William Osula is a target, after a late move to Frankfurt failed in the summer window.

Reinforcements may also be needed with the futures of both Elye Wahi and Michy Batshuayi in doubt at the Waldstadion.
