Sport1 report tonight that Mario Götze has reached an agreement to join Eintracht Frankfurt.
SGE’s supervisory board will meet on Monday to approve the transfer. If club bosses give the green light, the Bundesliga side will pay PSV €4m for Götze, who had interest from Benfica and Inter Miami.
Per the report, Eintracht’s recruitment team met with the 30-year-old in Mallorca, presenting Götze with a clear plan. The 2014 World Cup winner will be the club’s highest earner alongside Kevin Trapp.
Götze wants to play Champions League football, something that Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt can offer, whilst Benfica have to go through the qualifying stages. A move to the USA at this stage in his career would be too early for the former Germany international.
Speaking on Sunday, Eintracht defender Martin Hinteregger told Sky Germany: “He would be an excellent fit for us as a player.”
Götze played 52 games in all competitions last season for PSV, scoring 12 and creating 11. His arrival will of course cast further doubt on the future of Daichi Kamada, who is entering the final year of his contract.
