Eintracht Frankfurt are in pole position to sign Bochum and Germany U20 international defensive-midfielder Cajetan Lenz (19), according to a report from Florian Plettenberg.

Although there are no negotiations between the two clubs, Markus Krösche remains a ‘key driver’ in the deal, as they look to secure the player’s signature in the summer. However, they face competition from fellow Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

Since the appointment of Krösche, Eintracht Frankfurt have established themselves as a leading Bundesliga club. In recent seasons, they’ve secured the arrivals of Nathaniel Brown, Hugo Larsson and Can Uzun, while selling Randal Kolo Muani, Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitke for significantly higher packages than they signed for.

Already in January, SGE have secured the services of Younes Ebnoutalib (€10m), Keita Kosugi (€6.5m), Love Arrhov (€4.6m) and Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab (€200k).

When it comes to Lenz, per Plettenberg, Eintracht see the 19-year-old as a player who can develop into a potential senior national team midfielder.
