Augsburg travel to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday aiming for a third straight win in all competitions at Deutsche Bank Park. It is Frankfurt’s first home outing of the new campaign.

According to BuLi News, Adi Hütter’s second stint has begun eventfully, starting with an 11-0 DFB-Pokal rout of fifth-tier SC St. Tonis before a 3-3 Bundesliga opener against Union Berlin. Younes Ebnoutalib hit a hat-trick to make it 3-1 with a little over 20 minutes left, then Frankfurt conceded twice in 13 minutes.

Frankfurt have won two of the last three home meetings with Augsburg, part of a seven-match unbeaten home run in this fixture. Ritsu Dōan decided last season’s contest here, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory.

Augsburg opened with a 2-0 DFB-Pokal win at Energie Cottbus, then beat Schalke 04 3-0 in the league. Michael Gregoritsch struck before the interval, Schalke’s Ron Schallenberg was sent off early in the second half, and Anton Kade and Rodrigo Ribeiro extended the lead.

They have not beaten Frankfurt in the last five meetings since a 2-1 home success in December 2023. Three of those ended level, including April’s 1-1 at the WWK Arena, while their last away win over Frankfurt was 3-1 in April 2019.

Team news for Frankfurt, Jessic Ngankam, Nnamdi Collins and Ansgar Knauff are injured. Dōan is available again after missing the first two games.

For Augsburg, Steve Mounié and Tim Breithaupt are out, and Kade is a doubt after leaving Wednesday’s training early. Alexis Claude-Maurice has recovered and is set to make his first matchday squad of the season.
