Liverpool will face off against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park on Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result on the road in the UEFA Champions League. The Reds suffered a poor 2-1 loss at the hands of Manchester United recently, so they would be desperate to earn a win in midweek.

Arne Slot will stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a handful of changes to his first team for this game. Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Curtis Jones could all play from the start of this contest.

Defence

Giorgi Mamardashvili will feature in between the sticks for Liverpool after he shipped in a couple of goals in his last outing. Virgil Van Dijk will function alongside Joe Gomez at the heart of Slot’s defence as they hope to keep things tidy on the defensive end of the field.

Dominik Szoboszlai will once again fill in as a makeshift right-back, while Andy Robertson hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.

Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones will anchor the midfield for the Merseyside club as they focus on winning the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park.

The gifted trio of Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah will operate just ahead of them as part of the Liverpool attack. All three of them need to combine well if the Reds are to come on top this Wednesday night.

Federico Chiesa and Rio Ngumoha will have to settle for a place on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Hugo Ekitike will lead the charge for the Merseyside club up top. He would be eager to impress against his old club in midweek.

Alexander Isak will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages of the game if needed.
