Said El Mala has played his way into FC Bayern’s focus with his strong performances, but his high price tag is apparently forcing the Munich club to rethink. In their search for alternatives, Bayern have now found what they are looking for in Poland
Said El Mala’s breakthrough at 1. FC Köln is one of the stories of this Bundesliga season. The 19-year-old impresses with pace, courage in one-on-one situations and goal threat – qualities that also make him interesting for FC Bayern. Munich are looking for a winger with development potential who can be built up behind Luis Díaz. El Mala fits this profile perfectly in sporting terms
Financially, however, the deal is becoming increasingly complicated. El Mala does not have an exit clause with the Effzeh and Cologne are firmly in the saddle. According to Sky, the Bundesliga promotion contenders are currently asking for around 30-40 million euros. If the attacking player confirms his performances, the transfer fee could even rise towards 50 million euros. For a backup with development prospects, this is a sum that is being critically questioned at Säbener Straße
Bayern are therefore looking for alternatives on the international market. As the Polish portal SportoweFakty reports, a representative of the German record champions was present at Jagiellonia Białystok’s Conference League match against Rayo Vallecano last Thursday. The focus was on 17-year-old winger Oskar Pietuszewski
The visit is said to have been no coincidence, with Munich having been monitoring the Polish youth international for some time. Pietuszewski is regarded as a technically strong, dynamic winger with plenty of development potential – exactly the type of player Bayern are looking for in this squad role. He has made 16 appearances in the current Ekstraklasa season, scoring three goals and providing two assists, and his current market value is around twelve million euros
However, competition is fierce, with clubs such as Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City as well as Bologna, FC Köln and FC Porto all reportedly showing an interest. Pietuszewski is still under contract with Jagiellonia until 2027 – a fact that does not make a transfer impossible, but certainly not cheap
A familiar pattern is thus emerging for Bayern: El Mala remains a highly exciting target, but at the same time Munich are securing alternatives at an early stage in case the poker gets out of hand financially.
