Cepeda struck with his first touch from a Febas pass to make it 1-0, while Dituro’s saves underpinned Elche’s display.
According to AS, Febas was Elche’s standout. Early on, Dituro parried a long-range effort from Ramazani in awkward but effective fashion, then misjudged a sortie against Diego López before denying Ramazani.
After Cepeda’s goal, the goalkeeper produced two fine stops from Ramazani and Diego López to protect the lead.
Sangaré operated as the right centre-back in a back three and was steady before being replaced midway through the second half. Affengruber marshalled the line, clearing repeatedly and guiding the build-up, while Morente ran tirelessly on the right and contained Danjuma despite fatigue. Petrot cleared a Beltrán shot off the line after Dituro’s earlier misstep, and Valera worked both ways, then hooked a Danjuma attempt over the bar just before his substitution.
Villar grafted in midfield and found runners with a couple of through balls. Neto pressed and covered but offered little between the lines. Rafa Mir had a chance in each half yet lacked sharpness, and André Silva was largely absent and isolated compared with his early-season form.
From the bench, John replaced Sangaré and did his job. Álvaro lifted tired legs late on. Pedrosa had little involvement but shut down the left, and Chust featured in the closing minutes.
