Michael Carrick’s side have won their last three games in a row and have moved into a play-off place as a result.

Victories against Oxford United, Luton Town and QPR have also seen the team score 15 goals and concede just four.

Supporters will be optimistic about the club’s promotion chances if this form can be maintained through the busy winter schedule.

If they are going to keep this form up, then key players like Ben Doak and Emmanuel Latte Lath will need to stay at the top of their game.

Ben Doak electric claim made

When asked who the club’s best player at the moment is, and what one word they’d use to describe him, FLW’s Middlesbrough fan pundit Jasper Hudson named Doak.

He believes the Liverpool loanee is electric, gushing with praise for the impact he’s had on the side since arriving in the summer.

“Without a doubt the best player at the club right now is Ben Doak, and electric is the best way to describe him,” Hudson told Football League World.

“He’s fast, skillful, very talented, but he is also an intelligent footballer.

“Not just in terms of where the space is and when to make decisions, but in terms of reading the game.

“I also think his effort levels and attitude are second to none.

“It’s very easy when teams double up on him or go tight and close the space, he doesn’t get frustrated really, I don’t see him throw his arms up in the air when we could give him the ball but turn and go the other side.

“And that’s a credit to him and the team for not just relying on him, and him understanding that just by being on the pitch he causes the opposition team problems, they have to think about him.

“Do they commit? Do they not, do they double up? And obviously that gets him other spaces as well, and I think that’s an underrated trait of his.

“It’s very obvious for everyone to see his ability on the ball, his skill, his speed.

“But I think another thing about that is where he chooses to run, his movements are so precise.

“Where he wants to place the ball to defeat a defender to make sure the ball doesn’t run out of play or get stuck under his feet, I just can’t think of enough words to describe how good he is as a footballer.

“He is electric, and the atmosphere picks up every time he gets on the ball for exactly that reason.”

Ben Doak’s importance to Middlesbrough

Doak has made 11 appearances in the Championship for Boro since signing in the closing stages of the summer window.

His performances have earned him a lot of praise, with some now tipping him to go on to become a key figure for his parent club in the future.

The 19-year-old has contributed one goal and three assists, and has been key to the club’s rise to fifth in the table.

Middlesbrough are now just five points behind league leaders Leeds United after 16 games.

Ben Doak has been a shrewd signing by Middlesbrough

The addition of Doak could prove to be one of the decisive factors in the promotion battle this year if he can continue performing and improving at this rate.

The winger has been electric, and has been a key part of their sudden uptick in form that has seen Middlesbrough move up to fifth in the table.

If he can start contributing more goals and assists, then Boro will be very hard to stop now that they’re firing on all cylinders.
