Former Corinthians midfielder Elias has been unveiled as ESPN’s latest football pundit, furthering his post-2021 retirement media career. According to Meu Timao, his move was confirmed on Friday after previous stints with CazéTV and TNT Sports.

At his new broadcaster he will feature on live match coverage and on “Resenha”, the programme that brings together leading football figures for interviews and debate.

Elias said he enjoys a more critical tactical lens, while recognising that much of what happens on the pitch stems from off-field dynamics, and he intends to add a complementary perspective beyond the four lines.

The switch also reunites him with Vagner Love, recently hired by the channel to commentate on matches and appear on Resenha. The pair were part of Corinthians’ 2015 Brazilian title-winning squad.

Another familiar face is Fábio Santos, now an ESPN pundit and a team-mate of Elias and Vagner Love in the first half of that 2015 campaign. Elias welcomed the chance to share his experience with colleagues he knows well, aiming to contribute to robust debate and uphold the broadcaster’s high standards.

He represented Corinthians in two spells, from 2008 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2016, making 253 appearances with 41 goals and 29 assists. His honours there include the 2008 Série B, the 2009 Copa do Brasil, the 2009 Campeonato Paulista and the 2015 Brasileirão.
