Ella Toone may make her long-awaited return to action this weekend for Manchester United, says head coach Marc Skinner.
United face Tottenham Hotspur this weekend as they look to stake a claim for a UEFA Women’s Champions League spot next season.
And having one of their biggest stars back from her hip injury – which has kept her out for all of 2026 so far – would be a great boost.
Skinner also gave positive updates on Dominique Janssen and Elisabeth Terland in his pre-match press conference.
“We have Dom [Janssen] and Teri [Terland] back training on the field,” Skinner said.
“They are both doing individual work. They could potentially be back against Brighton, but may play some part against Chelsea, if not.
“Tooney [Ella] is ongoing monitoring and she will train today.
“We are hopeful she may be involved this weekend, which would be fantastic news.”
United currently sit fourth in the Women’s Super League table, equal on points with third-placed Arsenal, who have two games in hand.
Their recent results have been less than optimal, with a two-legged defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, plus a 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the derby.
He also confirmed that Anna Sandberg and Ellen Wangerheim would be added to the squad for the weekend.
However, Leah Galton remains absent, and teenage starlet Layla Drury is a new addition to the injury list.
The 16-year-old switched international allegiance from Wales to England earlier this year, but picked up a problem in the most recent under-20 international camp.
“Leah Galton will miss this weekend but will, potentially, play some part going into the Brighton game but we are waiting and seeing on that,” said Skinner.
“The only other one is Layla Drury took on an injury on international camp, so she will probably miss the end of the season.”
