Ella Toone played her 200th game for Manchester United in the Champions League against Atlético de Madrid last night, becoming the first player to hit that milestone for the women's team.
A lifelong fan, Toone was part of the original group of players when the club joined the women's football period under manager Casey Stoney for the 2018/19 season. Leah Galton and Millie Turner are the only other originals still at the club.
Since then, 'Tooney' has become an icon of the club and the heart of the team and Playmaker has taken a look at United star's numbers...
Two centuries
Toone's 200 appearances are spaced over eight seasons at the club with the 26-year-old starting every game so far this season.
Of those 200 games, 125 have been in the WSL while Toone also played all 20 of United's Championship games in that inaugural season. On top of that are 21 FA Cup appearances, 26 League Cup appearances, and eight in the Champions Leagues (of which two have been in the competition 'proper').
Of those games, Toone 163, coming off the bench 37 times in total.
Two medals
After lifting the Championship trophy in her first season (now rebranded WSL 2), Toone had to wait a while before lifting silverware with her club once again – although she was still doing it with the Lionesses.
And while Toone has two FA Cup losers' medals for the 2022/23 and 2024/25 final defeats to Chelsea in both games, she opened the scoring in the 2024 final against Tottenham Hotspur – the first of four goals for United that day.
Three Player of the Year awards
Toone's importance to her team is underlined by her being awarded Player of the Year in three out of four seasons from 2021/22 to 2024/25 (Alessia Russo was the outlier, winning it for her 2022/23 campaign). She also shared the Players' Player of the Year award alongside Maya Le Tissier for the 2023/24 campaign.
On top of that, Toone was awarded the women's team Goal of the Season for the last two seasons for trademark strikes from outside the area.
Creative force
Toone's goals and assists for her club have seen her rank fifth for combined goal involvements in the 2021/22 campaign (15 goals involvements) and ninth for the previous season (14). Indeed, the 2021/22 season saw her have the most assists out of anyone in the WSL (eight in total) a record she is currently holding for this year with four already in the division.
The United player has also been in the top ten for progressive passes and passes into the penalty area in five of the last six WSL seasons, only missing out last season due to playing fewer games than usual.
This season so far has seen her back to those high numbers with only Catarina Macario of Chelsea having more goal-creating actions (seven) than Toone (five).
Toone also ranks joint seventh for key passes (10, the highest in the United team alongside Melvine Malard) and is top of the pile for goal involvements in the WSL so far with a combined six (two goals, four assists).
