Work at Elland Road can accelerate after Leeds United’s final home game of the season. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, development will continue through summer, with scaffolding already visible on the West Stand.

Leeds ended the 2025/26 home campaign with a 95th-minute winner from Dominic Calvert-Lewin against Brighton. Daniel Farke’s side defended stoutly and enjoyed a jubilant lap of honour.

The Yorkshire Post shared a new CGI, released by the Lowy Family Group, showing capacity rising from 37,645 to 53,000. The plan, led by director Peter Lowy, targets completion by 2030.

Work on the West Stand is expected to finish in 2028, lifting it from 8,000 to 17,750. The North Stand expansion is slated to take a further two years, increasing from 10,414 to 15,300.

Around 2,500 homes plus hotels, cafes, shops and community facilities are envisaged in the wider redevelopment. The Yorkshire Post also reports the Lowy Family Group, Leeds City Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority are due to sign a mass transit memorandum on Tuesday.

Peter Lowy said the stadium project is a catalyst for wider regeneration, with mass transit fundamental to unlocking potential and supporting growth for club and city. West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin said the transformation would create a year-round destination for fans and families.

Government backing followed, with Chancellor Rachel Reeves highlighting Elland Road while unveiling a Stadium Regeneration Accelerator amid talks over a possible 2040s Olympics in the North. She said this support aims to deliver new homes, business opportunities and public spaces.
