Elliot Anderson's £116 million move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City is well on the way to completion, with the 23-year-old starring for England at the World Cup and a medical scheduled in New York over the weekend.

According to Nottingham Post, Forest signed Anderson from Newcastle United for £35 million two years ago and are set to triple their money, banking the biggest fee for a British player.

If all goes to plan, Anderson could be confirmed as a City player next week, and Forest are already scouring the market for replacements.

He might face a minor snag at the Etihad, since his preferred number eight is taken by Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Available options include 12, unused since Angelino departed in 2020, as well as 17, long associated with Kevin De Bruyne, plus 18 and 19.
