Manchester City are preparing a second offer for Elliot Anderson after Nottingham Forest rejected an initial, undisclosed bid last week. According to Nottingham Post, City are actively pursuing the midfielder.

Forest have set a hefty valuation, expecting any successful bid for the 23-year-old to top £100 million. The timing is sensitive, with City keen to move before the World Cup begins, while Forest know a strong tournament from Anderson could lift his price.

City are seen as leading the race ahead of Manchester United. The player is understood to prefer a switch to the Etihad rather than Old Trafford.

Head coach Vitor Pereira wants to keep Anderson but accepts the market can change quickly. He has stressed that any key departure would need replacing. Anderson is under contract until 2029.

The midfielder played every league match, scoring four and assisting four as Forest stayed up. He also featured in their run to the Europa League semi-finals. Earlier this year he said his summer focus would be England duty.
