According to a report by L’Équipe, two Olympique de Marseille players, Elye Wahi (21) and Adrien Rabiot (29), have been pre-selected for Didier Deschamps’s upcoming France squad.

Wahi has struggled to make an impact for his new team after making the move from RC Lens over the summer. The forward has scored only once, his effort coming from the penalty spot during Marseille’s opening-day rout of Stade Brestois (5-1).

However, Wahi has long been considered a bright prospect in the French game, and Wahi could represent Deschamps exploring new options if the striker is selected in the final squad. Rabiot, in contrast, was part of France’s starting 11 when the nation were eliminated by Spain in the semi-finals of the Euros.

That game on the 9th of July was the last competitive match Rabiot has been involved in after he left Juventus at the expiry of his contract. The midfielder struggled to find a new team and only joined Marseille 11 days ago meaning he has missed both pre-season and the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

There had been an aim not to use the midfielder until after the international break and a hope that France would not select him so he could continue to train with the club. However, Rabiot has been selected as part of the Marseille squad that will travel to RC Strasbourg Alsace on Sunday.
