Elye Wahi has rejoined Nice on a one-year loan from Frankfurt, outlining the circumstances of his return and a stronger bond with the club. According to L'Équipe, he spoke on Thursday.
Team-mates treated him as if he had never left, and supporters delivered a raucous airport welcome on Sunday. He recounted hearing the noise from the toilets before realising the reception awaiting him, amused and touched.
He joked it felt like love at first sight with OGC Nice, and said he had recovered the cap snatched amid the crowd. He described himself as demonstrative with team-mates, fans and executives, adding this might have encouraged his return.
Sporting director Roger Ricort kept in contact to persuade him, and Laurent Abergel left him a note on arrival.
On readiness, he said the aim is to build up steadily and avoid injury. Although he feels mentally at 100 per cent, starting on Sunday at Paris FC does not appear to be in the plan.
He should be in the squad initially and might get a few minutes.
During his presentation it was agreed there would be no questions about the yellow card received at Metz last season, for which he was heard. He will reserve any answers for the judicial authorities if called again.
