FC Barcelona are reportedly planning for life after Robert Lewandowski, who is already 37 years of age, and one of the names that has emerged frequently as a possible replacement for the Polish forward is the Cameroonian striker Etta Eyong, who is impressing quite a lot in his first season with Levante.

The striker himself reportedly has a lot of affection for the Blaugrana club, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, another indication of this was him naming two former Barcelona players as his inspirations growing up, as he recently appeared in an interview with SportyTV.

One of these players was Samuel Eto’o, who also happens to be Eyong’s compatriot and the president of his national football federation. Regarding the former striker, Eyong said:

“When I was a child, I watched Eto’o’s matches at Barcelona.”

The second player was, unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi, about whom the Levante forward said:

“For me, he is the best, and playing with him would be a dream I wouldn’t want to wake up from.”

Furthermore, Etta Eyong also mentioned winning the Champions League in the coming two years as one of his ambitions, and Barcelona would be a particularly well-suited club for him to achieve this dream.

However, for now, he will have to continue playing at the level he has displayed so far to make the Blaugranes make a move for him.
