Emerson Palmieri will miss Olympique de Marseille’s Champions League match against Liverpool at the Vélodrome on Wednesday night. The club said in a statement that the left-back has a left thigh injury.

He was hurt during OM’s final training session before matchday seven. Medical tests confirmed a lesion.

No timeframe has been provided for his return.

It is a blow for head coach Roberto De Zerbi only hours before kick-off. The match starts at 21:00.

De Zerbi can at least welcome back Benjamin Pavard, absent for the 5-2 match against Angers on Saturday, to face the Reds.
