Aston Villa attacker Emiliano Buendia will remain with the Birmingham-based outfit after the collapse of a potential summer move to Valencia.
Buendia was expected to leave Villa Park, but per Las Provincias, he has been informed that he remains part of Unai Emery’s plans for the 2025/26 campaign.
The Villa attacker, who earns £75,000 per week, was a target for Valencia, led by former West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan.
The 28-year-old has endured a disappointing time at Villa, managing only 10 goals and nine assists in 97 appearances.
Buendia’s time in Birmingham has been stop-start since he arrived from Norwich City in 2021, with injuries and competition for places limiting his influence.
However, Villa have reportedly rejected the Spanish club’s approach outright.
Emery is reportedly keen to keep Buendia at Villa Park, valuing his technical quality, work rate, and versatility.
Buendia could be important for Villa even as a rotation option with the club set to lose key personnel this summer. Squad depth will be essential.
Villa academy graduate Jacob Ramsey is close to sealing a £43 million switch to Newcastle United, while Leon Bailey has been linked with a move to AS Roma.
Should those departures materialise, Buendia could find himself playing a more prominent role for Villa across domestic and European fixtures.
Villa must make crucial additions to the frontline. They are exploring the possibility of bringing Marco Asensio back from Paris Saint-Germain for another spell at the club.
Asensio made a significant impact during his loan stint at Villa in the second half of last season.
He netted eight goals in 21 appearances in claret and blue, and he remains a player admired by Emery.
Villa are also assessing other attacking options as they look to strengthen their forward line before the window closes.
