Emmanuel Macron visited Clairefontaine to meet the France squad, who are now complete as they prepare for the World Cup from 11 June to 19 July.
According to L'Équipe, he arrived at 12.40 in rain and first met the France women, who are preparing their final two qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup. Introduced by coach Laurent Bonadei, he said he would be fully behind them, urged them to keep going, and added that 2027 was within reach.
He then went to the château with his wife Brigitte and sports minister Marina Ferrari, where Didier Deschamps and captain Kylian Mbappé were waiting. He reviewed the squad by the staircase and greeted the five Parisians he had already met at the Élysée on Sunday after their Champions League triumph, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernandez, Bradley Barcola and Warren Zaïre-Emery.
Arsenal defender William Saliba, who has a back issue, was also present, having arrived with the Paris contingent on Tuesday morning. A group photograph followed with the presidential couple, FFF president Philippe Diallo and the minister. Mbappé then called Mohamed Sanhadji, previously in the background, to join him in front of the cameras.
Les Bleus then had lunch with the president inside the château.
