Endrick has offered support to Vinicius Junior, his former Real Madrid team-mate, after alleged racist abuse during Benfica v Real Madrid in Tuesday’s Champions League play-off first leg.

According to L'Équipe, Vinicius scored the only goal of the match, then alerted French referee François Letexier to remarks he said he heard from Gianluca Prestianni.

Vinicius told officials the Benfica player, an Argentinian, called him “mono”, Spanish for monkey, while covering his mouth with his shirt.

On Wednesday, Endrick posted on Instagram, urging Vinicius not to stop, to keep smiling and dancing, and saying he would always be by his side.

He paired the message with a photo of the pair from their time together at Real Madrid.
