Manchester United are at risk of missing out on Endrick as the race for the Real Madrid starlet ramps up ahead of the January transfer window, Fabrizio Romano reveals.

An Exit from Madrid

Despite making 22 appearances in LaLiga last year, Endrick is yet to feature under new manager Xabi Alonso this season.

The outstanding form of Kylian Mbappe – 16 goals and 3 assists in 13 games – has left little room for another centre-forward at the Bernabeu, particularly one as raw as Endrick.

And this has led the Brazilian to push for an exit from Los Blancos in search of more first-team minutes, albeit only temporarily as he does not wish to leave the club on a permanent transfer, according to Romano.

“Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso didn’t use Endrick again in El Clasico, meaning the Brazilian striker has gone one more week without any appearances after being overlooked against Juventus and Barcelona,” the Italian transfer expert reveals.

“His camp has started working concretely on a January move, with the 19-year-old keen on a new chapter in his career on loan for the next six months. It’s important to clarify that Endrick doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid on a permanent deal.

“Endrick can still imagine his future as a Real Madrid player because he loves the club, but he believes that leaving the Bernabeu on loan is the only way to save his career and improve, develop and find new trust after some difficult months at the club with limited game time since he returned from injury. Although a loan move is wanted, the question is where he could go.”

Madrid are open to a loan in January – with a host of clubs across of Europe expressing interest in a player whose talent suggests he simply needs minutes to help realise it, including United.

An option at Old Trafford?

Earlier this month, The Peoples Person relayed a report detailing the Red Devils’ interest in Endrick as INEOS continue to look for ways to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Romano reveals there are other clubs in England also keeping tabs on the youngster, who “would not close the doors to the Premier League as a possibility,” Romano asserts.

But if Endrick was to complete a switch to Old Trafford, or one of England’s other ‘top six’, he would face the similar struggle for minutes as he is currently trying to escape in Madrid.

And it’s this push for first-team opportunities which will likely lead the 19-year-old to a club with less competition in the front line, such as Ligue 1’s Olympique Lyonnais.

Romano reveals the French club have “started talks” to sign Endrick on loan with an “official approach” to Madrid already launched .

Tweet: “Understand Olympique Lyon have started talks to sign Endrick on loan in January! Talks already underway with an official approach to sign the Brazilian striker on loan from Real Madrid. OL presented their plan to Endrick who’s open to talk + assessing all options.”

Endrick is described as “open” to the switch to Lyon but is continuing to assess “all options” on the table, suggesting a final decision is far from being made.
