AS reports that José Mourinho asked for him to remain after being impressed in pre-season, and believes he could play a significant role either through the middle or from the right.

The 20-year-old had been linked with loans to Roma or Aston Villa, with talk of a guaranteed starting spot at one of the two Champions League qualifiers. The report adds that he has been convinced he has a chance to stake a claim in Madrid.

He previously took a mid-season loan at Olympique Lyonnais.

Even so, the report notes he would not rule out another loan in the second half of the season if his game time proves insufficient.
