England's final 26-player squad for Euro 2024 has been confirmed, with a number of high-profile stars missing out on selection.

Manager Gareth Southgate selected a preliminary 33-man roster for the friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland as he assessed his options ahead of the summer tournament in Germany.

News of the culled stars began to emerge on Thursday, with Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison dropping out of the squad and out of contention for Friday's clash with Iceland.

Liverpool duo Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah - both of whom were unused substitutes in the 3-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina - were cut before it emerged Three Lions regular Harry Maguire would not recover from his ongoing calf injury in time to feature.

As a result, Southgate has chosen to pick Lewis Dunk, Joe Gomez and Marc Guehi as his centre-back options alongside expected starter John Stones, with Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite missing out.

Adam Wharton has impressed enough in his first senior international camp to book his place on the squad, with Declan Rice, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Gallagher and Kobbie Mainoo taken in central midfield, where Jude Bellingham will also able to play if needed.

In attack, there was no space for Manchester City winger Jack Grealish, who started only ten Premier League games during the 2023/24 season. Instead, Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon will be the options for Southgate out wide.

The former defender has also opted to take three strikers, with captain Harry Kane joined by Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins and Brentford's Ivan Toney.
