England bounced back from their defeat to Spain by beating the Czech Republic 2-0 in Prague, securing their first victory of the Nations League campaign.

The hosts made the brighter start, with Pavel Sulc and Lukas Cerv both threatening early on. England gradually took control, however, and Morgan Rogers came close when his effort struck the post.

Czechia’s task became significantly harder in the 25th minute when Sulc’s yellow card for a high challenge on Elliot Anderson was upgraded to red following a VAR review.

The Three Lions continued to press, with Matej Kovar denying Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane before the interval.

The breakthrough finally arrived shortly after half-time as Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered an excellent cross for Gordon, who headed into the bottom corner.

The visitors then came close to a second when Ladislav Krejci diverted Lewis Hall’s cross against his own post. Kane eventually doubled England’s advantage in the 69th minute, firing into the bottom corner after the ball broke loose inside the area.

The Czech Republic threatened through Adam Hlozek, but James Trafford made the save required. Rogers and Eberechi Eze also had late opportunities, while Kovar denied Jude Bellingham. England held firm to secure a comfortable win ahead of their trip to Croatia.
