England confirmed their place at the 2026 World Cup with a dominant 5–0 win over Latvia in Riga, rounding off a flawless qualifying campaign under Thomas Tuchel.
Anthony Gordon opened the scoring after 26 minutes, cutting inside from the left and curling into the bottom corner.
Harry Kane then struck twice before half-time - first with a precise effort from the edge of the box, then from the penalty spot after Antonijs Cernomordijs pulled his shirt.
Latvia’s resistance collapsed further after the break when Djed Spence’s cross was turned into his own net by Maksims To?isevs, before substitute Eberechi Eze added a fifth late on with a cool finish from Jarrod Bowen’s pass.
England were rarely troubled, with Jordan Pickford extending his run of clean sheets to nine matches.
Tuchel’s side have now won all six qualifiers without conceding, scoring 13 goals in their last three matches.
Despite some friction with fans following his recent comments about support, the German can reflect on a job well done - phase one complete, World Cup place secured in style.
