There’s a certain poetry to the career arc of a footballer like Kyle Walker. Once the electric marauder down the right for Manchester City’s juggernaut, now — at 35 — he arrives at Burnley with more than medals in his luggage. The England international has penned a two-year deal with the Clarets, joining for a fee rising to £5 million, as he prepares to write a new chapter under familiar guidance.

Scott Parker, Burnley’s head coach, is no stranger to Walker. The pair shared the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur, and now reconnect with Parker in the dugout and Walker offering both leadership and longevity to a club freshly returned to the Premier League.
“I’m delighted to be here,” Walker told Burnley’s website. “I can’t wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad. When I spoke to Scott and heard about his plans for next season, it was an opportunity I jumped at. He’s done an amazing job here, guiding the club back to the Premier League.”
Walker’s departure closes an extraordinary chapter in Manchester City’s history. Since arriving from Spurs in 2017 for an initial £45 million, he amassed 319 appearances and 17 trophies, including a key role in the 2023 Treble-winning side. His explosive pace and tactical intelligence made him a vital cog in Pep Guardiola’s system for years — a modern full-back who evolved with the demands of the game.
Yet time waits for no one. Despite making 15 appearances in the first half of last season, City sanctioned a January loan to AC Milan. The Italian giants declined to take up the option to buy, leaving Walker in limbo — until Burnley’s call.
Having sealed promotion last season, Burnley’s recruitment drive is gathering momentum. Walker becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer, joining Axel Tuanzebe, Quilindschy Hartman, Max Weiss and Loum Tchaouna. Parker’s vision appears clear: blend promising talent with hardened winners.
