It has been an international break full of significant landmarks for a number of Newcastle United players, including Lewis Miley.
Having recovered from long-term injury, the 18 year old has made recent NUFC matchday squads and managed to get on the pitch as a late sub, in the Carabao Cup win over Chelsea.
It was then a massive boost on the back of his return to the Newcastle United first team squad, when Lewis Miley got his very first call up for the England Under 21s this month.
On Friday, the United teenager got his very first minutes for the Under 21s, off the bench on 68 minutes and helping England to a very good goalless draw in Cadiz. Spain had only lost once at home in the last three years and were facing a relatively inexperienced England side.
Monday brought an even more significant milestone for Lewis Miley, as he got his first start for the England Under 21s against Holland, in Almere.
The Newcastle United midfielder playing in an advance role just behind centre-forward Dane Scarlett.
After only five minutes, Scarlett opened the scoring with an excellent diving header, from an even better Samuel Iling-Junior cross.
That opening goal sparked Holland into life and they went on to be the dominant side throughout most of the match.
The England Under 21 keeper James Beadle the man of the match as he was called into action time after time.
James McAtee produced a great run just after the break but ruined it when putting his shot wide when through on goal.
However, that was a brief respite for England as Holland went back to being the dominant side.
Lewis Miley put in a really good shift but like his teammates, this was almost entirely in a defensive capacity. The Newcastle United 18 year old then one of four players subbed off just before the hour mark, as England looked for fresh legs to help see the win out.
Just when it looked they had done so, with eight minutes to go van Bergen was put through and finished past an onrushing Beadle.
The England keeper then made a series of great saves to prevent a late defeat and then out of nowhere, the England Under 21s almost won it at the death, only for Jayden Philogene to shoot narrowly wide.
