For the first time since EURO 1992, and a 2-1 loss to Sweden that saw the Three Lions go out at the group stage, there is not a single player in the starting XI from Manchester United, Manchester City or Liverpool.

Now, Marcus Rashford is on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, so there is a slight loophole, but it is still quite staggering given how influential the three clubs have been in the national team in recent years.

Phil Foden and Curtis Jones making way from Friday's 2-0 win over Albania has made for it, and given that summer of 1992 loss was England's final game before the dawn of the Premier League, it feels like a lifetime ago.

It could well be another 33 years before it happens again.
