Three Lions made light work of their neighbours at Wembley as a number of players proved a point to Thomas Tuchel
England produced another encouraging performance as they thrashed neighbours Wales 3-0 in a Wembley friendly.
Goals from Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins gave them a 2-0 cushion after 11 minutes.
Bukayo Saka then scored a stunner before the break to grow the advantage.
Though they didn’t manage to notch a fourth, it was a fine result and performance from Thomas Tuchel’s men in front of 78,000 at the national stadium.
Dom Smith was at Wembley to rate the England players’ performances…
Jordan Pickford 7
Had very little to do, but made one good save and kept a clean-sheet to earn an eighth in a row — a new record for an England goalkeeper.
Ezri Konsa 6
Assisted Saka’s wonder goal (though with a very simple pass). Was otherwise solid defensively as England kept another clean-sheet.
John Stones 6
Has had a horrid time of it with injuries, of late, but made his first start for England in a year and delivered a steady performance against quite limited opposition.
Marc Guehi 8
Passed very well and made a couple of very important blocks. And registered two assists before the 11 minute mark. The Crystal Palace captain is loving life at the moment.
Djed Spence 7
Stayed wide all night and did so with confidence on the occasion of his full England debut.
Elliot Anderson 7
Solid in midfield. Tuchel has found a fine option for defensive midfield in the Nottingham Forest youngster.
Declan Rice 7
Never really tested in midfield so ran the show at times, but on this occasion, unlike in Serbia, it was others who went forward more and broke into the final third.
Bukayo Saka 8
England’s star performer. His dribbling caused real problems and, in the first half, he scored one of his finest international goals. A welcome return, from Tuchel’s perspective.
Morgan Rogers 8
Had a real impact, not only scoring his maiden international goal but also hitting the crossbar late on and finding pockets that Wales just couldn’t defend.

Anthony Gordon 7
Plenty of running and had a few blocked shots. A couple nice turns and cute pieces of skill showed the reasons why he is a real option on the left.
Ollie Watkins 7
A rare opportunity to deputise for Harry Kane was duly taken, as the striker found the net from close range in the 45 minutes for which he was on. Job done.
Subs:
Marcus Rashford (Watkins, 46’) 6
Produced a couple of bright runs in the second half, after replacing Watkins. Started wide left, then played through the centre.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Rice, 69’) 5
Struggled to get into the game, really, but will have been delighted to make his first England appearance in seven years.
Jordan Henderson (Anderson, 69’) 6
Good performance in midfield, as he picked up where Rice and Anderson had left off.
Morgan Gibbs-White (Rogers, 70’) 6
Tried to play in the hole, in pockets Rogers had occupied before him. Worked hard off the ball.
Jarrod Bowen (Saka, 70’) 6
Came on for Saka to work the right wing and did force Wales to defend him wide. Not on long enough to make a telling impact.
Myles Lewis-Skelly (Stones, 80’) N/A
