England shine at Wembley with eight-goal demolition of China | OneFootball

England were simply too hot to handle as they recorded an 8-0 demolition of China PR at Wembley this evening.

Georgia Stanway netted a hat-trick, Beth Mead scored a brace while Lauren Hemp, Ella Toone and Alessia Russo were also on target in-front of a sell-out crowd at the national stadium.

England got off to a splendid start and they were 2-0 up inside 15 minutes courtesy of a quick-fire double from Mead. Hemp then added a third before Stanway netted a fourth goal in the 23rd minute. The Lionesses were rampant throughout the first period and Stanway’s penalty in the 38th minute saw the hosts go into the break with a huge 5-0 advantage.

Sarina Wiegman’s side picked up from where they left off after the break and Stanway soon completed her hat-trick with England’s sixth goal. Toone then added a seventh goal before Russo completed the scoring 12 minutes from time.

It was a clinical performance from England who converted eight of their nine shots on target over the course of the 90 minutes.

England complete the ‘Homecoming Series’ with an international friendly against Ghana at St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Lionesses will be aiming to cap-off a fine year with another victory.
