England manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed the 26-man squad that will be going to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America this summer.

A number of high-profile names have been omitted, most notably Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer and Manchester City’s Phil Foden. Palmer has been dealing with injury issues throughout the season, while Foden has never quite recaptured the form that won him the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award in 2023/24.

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Eberechi Eze of Arsenal will be Tuchel’s options for the no.10 role instead.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has missed out after a tough first year at Real Madrid following his move from Liverpool last summer, with Tottenham’s Djed Spence surprisingly getting the nod instead despite breaking his jaw on Monday. The full-back is expected to play Spurs’ crucial match against Everton this weekend with a face mask.

Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire confirmed on Thursday that he had not gotten the call-up despite featuring in the March international friendlies against Uruguay and Japan. Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has also been left out, with Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, John Stones and Jarell Quansah all on the plane.

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney, who is playing for Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, have been selected, meaning there’s no place for Brighton’s Danny Welbeck or Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Leeds United following impressive campaigns in front of goal.

Elliot Anderson makes the England squad after a breakout season for Nottingham Forest, but teammate Morgan Gibbs-White does not make the cut despite a strong end to the campaign.

Declan Rice, Kobbie Mainoo and Jordan Henderson fill out the midfield, but Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has been omitted.
