Joe Willock scored as Newcastle United came from behind to draw 1-1 against holders Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, marking his first ever goal in the competition.

With this strike, he became the 22nd different English player to score in this season’s Champions League, already surpassing last season’s total of 21.

Despite this record, England have been overtaken by Brazil, who now have 23 different scorers in this year’s edition.

England’s high tally has been helped by six Premier League clubs still in the competition and the expanded Champions League format, which allows more matches and opportunities for players to score.

Earlier in the season, Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly and Newcastle’s Lewis Miley also scored their first Champions League goals, contributing to the record-breaking total.
