Lucy Bronze will be making her seventh tournament appearance for the Lionesses, with this being her fourth consecutive European Championships. Brighton’s Sophie Baggaley, Laura Blindkilde Brown of Manchester City and Aston Villa duo Missy Bo Kearns and Lucy Parker are the four players who will be on standby.

Sarina Wiegman will have to do without the likes of Mary Earps and Fran Kirby, with the pair retiring in the last week, and Millie Bright, who removed herself from contention citing burnout.

The Lionesses will first take on France in Zurich on Saturday 5 July before facing the Netherlands in the same city on Wednesday 9 July. They conclude the group stage against Wales on Sunday 13 July in St. Gallen.

Speaking on her selections, Wiegman said: “I know this is an exciting day, for the players and also for our fans and it underlines that the tournament is coming soon. Telling the players they have made the squad is always a great moment.

“They will all give everything to help us make the country proud. This group is a very well-balanced mix of players with multiple tournaments on their CVs and also those that will make their tournament debuts. I am excited to see what we are capable of this summer.”
