Spain’s Marissa put a chance wide in the opening minute, Cerys Brown made a crucial block from Ainhoa Alguacil’s shot.

Pressure paid for the Spanish in the 25th minute, Daniela Agote charging down Lucy Newell’s attempted clearance to go round goalkeeper Katie Cox and slot home.

The lead was doubled in the 45th minute, Brooke Aspin unable to get distance on a clearance from an awkwardly bouncing ball, allowing Paula Comendador to score through a crowded six-yard box.

Half-time substitute Mia Enderby took only 75 seconds to pull a goal back, beating the keeper from Michelle Agyemang’s header.

Spain’s two-goal cushion was restored midway through the second-half, sub Daniela Arques finding the top corner.

Cox made a point-blank save to deny Marissa, then at the death Agyemang could not get quite enough on a Vivienne Lia cross.

Netherlands beat France 2-0 in today’s second semi-final, Karlijn Woons and Danique Tolhoek with first-half goals.

The Dutch play Spain in the final on Saturday, 4pm kick-off (BST), live on BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport website and UEFA.tv.
