With the Real Madrid presidential elections just around the corner, Florentino Perez is facing competition from Enrique Riquelme.
The Spanish businessman presented his candidacy earlier this week and has made some major claims regarding the changes he intends to usher in, while also criticising the ways of the current administration.
Now, as reported by MARCA, just hours before the UEFA Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal in Budapest, Riquelme launched one of the most eye-catching moments of his election campaign.
The presidential candidate arranged for four campaign-branded buses to circulate near the Puskas Arena, the venue hosting European football’s biggest club match.
The buses carried messages aimed directly at the rest of the continent’s football elite and appeared designed to reinforce Real Madrid’s reputation as the dominant force in European competition.
Two of the vehicles displayed the slogan: “Enjoy the night, we’ll be back.”
Another message featured prominently across the campaign fleet: “Rivals come and go. Real Madrid returns.”
The timing of the campaign stunt was carefully chosen. With thousands of supporters, journalists, football executives, and UEFA officials gathered in Budapest for the final, the buses ensured that Riquelme’s message reached an international audience.

Interestingly, Real Madrid president and fellow presidential candidate Florentino Perez was also in Budapest for the Champions League final as a guest of UEFA.
Perez intended to use his visit to hold meetings with senior football officials during the event.
Among the matters on his agenda was the presentation of a dossier to UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin concerning information collected by Real Madrid regarding the Negreira case, a matter that continues to generate discussion within Spanish football.
