Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen departing the club during the winter transfer window is beginning to look like a real possibility.
That’s according to German football insider Florian Plettenberg, who has on Wednesday provided a fresh insight into the situation.
Goalkeeper Ter Stegen is for his part of course sidelined long-term at present.
This comes after the German international was forced under the knife, to solve a long-term issue in his back.
The widespread understanding is that Ter Stegen would not have been featuring on a frequent basis for Hansi Flick’s side, anyway, following the summer signing of Joan García.
With this situation unlikely to change following the turn of the year, murmurs surrounding a potential January exit for the 33-year-old have in turn begun to mount.
This comes with Ter Stegen eyeing a place in Germany’s squad for next next summer’s World Cup.
And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, an update on the situation has come to the fore.
The info comes courtesy of journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky, who has confirmed:
‘As revealed last week, a transfer for Marc-André ter Stegen in the winter is possible and no longer ruled out. A loan move is also an option, with enquiries already made. His contract runs until 2028, top-class goalkeeper.’
